Future page

This page give a brief outline of some future plans the charity has to extend it's work in 2009 and beyond in the Chitradurga and Mysore regions of Southern India . These plans will become reality as finances are sourced and are made available.

Chitradurga

This is the charities largest undertaking at the present time. A fertile plot of land has already been purchased and on it, it is proposed that a facility be built that will accommodate and be home to 80 needy children.

The photos below shows some of the land, and the start of drilling for water following advice from a geologist. The bore had to go down to 700 feet to get water, but will provide enough water for 100 people, plants and animals.

Approval has been granted to supply electricity to the site. A secure room must be built to house the necessary equipment and pump for the bore well.

The children’s home will be built in 2 stages. Stage one will consist of a dormitory, kitchen, shower room and accommodation for staff. It will be built to house 40 children.

A horticulturist has selected 15 varieties of fruit trees to be planted when the electricity and water supply is in place. These varieties being the most suitable to provide fruit all year round and thus will be part of the self-sustaining nature that we envisage for this project. As will the keeping of chickens and cows not only to provide milk and eggs for the children but also to be a source of revenue.

Other plans for this area include:-

Installing a perimeter fence/barrier round the site and a compound wall round the buildings is urgent and essential.
Build a community hall where regular health programs for the local community can take place.
Build guest rooms for visitors to enable them to bring other skills and to assist and interact with the children.
